Oh, 2012, you slippery, quicksilver beast; I barely knew thee. Something tells me that 2013 will fly by even faster.
Here are some out-of-order summer (summer - what's that?) photos I gathered a few months ago and never posted. Some blog, huh?
| Theo and I posed in front of our greenhouse in July, the day that John left for a month in the field. We had over twenty plants, and maybe a total of twenty tomatoes. It was not a good tomato year. |
| Theo schmoozed with Mr. Daniel Poniquistickly at the Diving Duck coffee booth at the Fair. |
| We went on a few walks in the woods. Theo liked to pick up walking sticks/magical wizard staffs. Our friend Vlad constructed this movie poster in honor of Little Lord Gandalf. |
| I can barely recognize this 12-month-old now that he's four months shy of two years. Except for those golden curls, of course. And that mischievous grin. |
| Old high school friends reconnected and introduced each other to the next generation of troublemakers and troubadors. |
| We took Theo to Chena Hot Springs for a dip in the pool and a picnic out of the hatchback of the Subaru. A perfect day. |
| Mr. Brownlow and I dined at 229 Parks on the day of John's departure. I was able to overcome my grief thanks to a fancy glass of wine and some of the best restaurant food in Alaska. |
| Theo at the Quist Farm. |
| Cree showing out-of-town visitors his roasting operation. |
| Theo's first ice cream cone, courtesy of Hot Licks. |
| Porten with Theo on Piersol's deck for a perfect summer evening party. |
| Picking blueberries with Kalina and Zozsa at our secret blueberry picking location. |
| Celebrating their mutual birthday at one of Mark Fejes's Last Friday gatherings. John really enjoyed Daniel's fancy sunglasses. |
| We had only a handful of warm days last summer; Theo spent every one of them outside in the pool on the deck. |
| Me at Jenny Schlohard's Alyeska wedding. |
| Bathtime. |
| The view of morning fog from our deck. |
| The view of the sun through welding goggles as we witnessed the transit of Venus. We saw it with our naked (protected, binoculared) eye – and it was pretty amazing, that tiny black dot. |
| Theo's second adventure with ice cream. |
| An album cover from an unreleased Sweating Honey side project. |
| The apocalyptic fire cloud on our drive to Healy. |
| Our anniversary dinner at 229 Parks. |
| Hanging out with Morfar on the back lawn at the condo. |
